Australia is a gigantic & beautiful country, full of beaches, mountains, cities and road trips to experience; but a trip you can’t miss while you’re visiting the land down under is the East Coast trip. Whether you’re doing it alone, with family or friends, it’s a trip from coast to coast that will show you just how beautiful & diverse Australia is. Here we’ll be sharing with you how me managed to do this trip and what places we visited.
Firstly we’ll be talking about the organisation of this trip. All of our trip was organised by https://peterpans.com/ , this is a young adults & students agency that arranges trips around the world with low budgets. They organised everything in our trip, we were a 4 girl group so this was a great decision for us. They helped us choose destinations, book transportations, hostels and the 2 main tours of our trip which were Fraser Island and the Atlantic Clipper Sailboat.
Now about the trip, we went to 7 destinations: Byron Bay, Brisbane, Rainbow Beach, Fraser Island, Airlie beach, Whitsundays & Cairns. From destination to destination we moved in night buses, and finally returned to Melbourne from Cairns by plane. The first destination was Byron Bay; this is a small hippie town that is famous for being surfers paradise. We had some delicious acai bowls here, and shopped locally. Afterwards we headed to Brisbane, this was the biggest destination in our itinerary, it’s one of the biggest cities in Australia so we decided to explore it & have dinner here. We also visited the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary that is just outside of the city, we were able to carry Koalas, they’re super cute and it was an incredible experience!
The next day we took a bus to Rainbow Beach; this is a small hippie town were people arrive to take the tour to Fraser Island. We slept in a hostel and the next day we joined our group to go to Fraser Island. The Fraser Island trip was an incredible journey, almost magical, it was a 1 night 2 day trip where we visited the most well known spots of the island like Lake Mackenzie, Eli Creek, the Champagne Pools, Indian head and many others. Fraser Island is the perfect destination to disconnect from the busy city life and enjoy nature to the fullest.
Afterwards we travelled to Airlie beach, here we didn’t spend any nights, we arrived, ate some lunch and then immediately boarded the Atlantic Clipper. This is a 2 night 3 day sailboat that takes you around the Whitsunday islands. This is a great way to meet new people, discover the incredible white sand beaches and enjoy the warm weather & views of the Whitsundays. This was also a great chance for us not to use our phones and connect with nature.
Finally we returned from the Whitsundays to Airlie Beach, later that afternoon we boarded a night bus that took us to Cairns. This was our final destination in the East Coast trip. Here we went scuba diving to the famous Great Barrier Reef, we really enjoyed seeing the aquatic creatures and spending another day at sea. One day we even had a waterfall tour where we went to see the Millaa Milla & the Josephine Falls. It was a great way to see a little bit of everything while in Cairns.
We really enjoyed our trip to the East Coast, filled with different landscapes, cities and towns. But above all admiring the Australian coasts and how different and unique they are to any other beaches in the world. Australia is a country that has destinations and views like the East Coast, that no other country has, completely surreal.
Australia es un país enorme y hermoso, lleno de montañas, playas, ciudades y pueblitos que conocer; pero un viaje que no se pueden perder si están visitando este país es el del East Coast. Ya sea que lo hagan solos, con amigos, familia o quién sea, es un viaje de costa en costa que les enseñará algunas de las playas y rincones naturales más impresionantes de este país. Aquí les compartiré un poco de nuestra experiencia en este viaje, los lugares a donde fuimos y qué hicimos en cada lugar.
Primero les platicare un poco acerca de cómo reservamos y organizamos el viaje. Todo nuestro viaje fue reservado por https://peterpans.com/ , es una agencia de viajes que empezó en Australia enfocada en hacer viajes de bajo presupuesto a jóvenes, generalmente en grupos. Ellos nos ayudaron con todo, los destinos, vuelos, transportes, hoteles y nos reservaron los 2 tours principales de nuestro viaje: Fraser Island y el barco llamado Atlantic Clipper.
En cuanto al viaje fuimos a 7 destinos: Byron Bay, Brisbane, Rainbow Beach, Fraser Island, Airlie beach, Whitsundays & Cairns. Entre destino y destino nos movimos en camiones, generalmente de noche, y regresamos desde Cairns a Melbourne en avión. El primer destino en nuestro viaje fue Byron Bay; es un pueblo chiquito hippie conocido por ser el destino de surfers más grande en Australia. Es un super lugar para comer local super rico y comprar en tiendas cools locales. Al día siguiente llegamos a Brisbane, la ciudad más grande de nuestro viaje y una de las más conocidas en Australia. Aprovechamos para conocer la ciudad, comer en un restaurante local, y al día siguiente visitamos el santuario de Koalas Lone Pine, y nos dejaron cargar Koalas! Fue algo increíble, son lo más tiernos!
Después tomamos un camión hasta Rainbow Beach, aquí solamente dormimos para al día siguiente tomar el tour con un grupo nuevo que nos llevaría a Fraser Island durante 1 noche y 2 días. El tour de la isla Fraser fue increíble! Es una isla llena de vistas y paisajes naturales completamente diferentes, es casi mágica! Conocimos el famoso Lake Mackenzie, Eli Creek, las Champagne Pools, Indian head y muchos otros lugares. Esta isla es el perfecto destino para conocer esos rincones diferentes de Australia, que ningún país tiene como este.
El día de regreso de la isla tomamos un camión ahora a Airlie Beach, aquí simplemente hicimos escala para comer y tomar rápidamente el barco Atlantic Clipper. Este es un barco de jóvenes que durante 2 noches y 3 días te lleva a conocer las islas Whitsundays, conocidas por ser unas playas e islas impresionantes con arena blanca y agua turquesa, una vista de postal. Disfrutar del mar, el clima calientito y conocer a gente de todo mundo en el barco es algo increíble.
Finalmente regresamos del barco a Airlie Beach y esa misma tarde tomamos el último camión que nos llevó hasta Cairns, nuestro destino final. la ciudad de Cairns es conocida ya que aquí es donde puedes bucear en el Great Barrier Reef, un destino muy popular. A mí me gustó mucho hacer esto ya que lo hicimos con mis amigas, pero sin duda no creo que sea el destino más increíble del viaje. Un día en Cairns inclusive tomamos un tour a unas cascadas muy conocidas llamadas Millaa Milla & the Josephine Falls, fue un tour inesperado y diferentes que nos encantó del viaje.
Nos encantó nuestro viaje al East Coast, a pesar de tener muchas carreteras y camiones, conoces nuevos destinos y lugares naturales que te dejan con la boca abierta. Australia es un país que cambia tu perspectiva de los paisajes que hay en el mundo y hace que quieras conocer más siempre, ya que país y destinos como este, ninguno.
