Tequila is a place I’ve heard about for a long time, but it wasn’t until last weekend that I had the chance to finally meet it. This town was named (obviously) Tequila because of the hundreds of thousands of acres of Agave which are used to produce the famous liquor Tequila that is consumed all over the world.
Our visit to Tequila was for one day only, since this town is not so big and you can cover the whole place in less than 24 hours. What we did was buy some Jarritos (which is a traditional drink here in Tequila) and then we strolled the streets, walking into the shops, and admiring the colorful architecture here; we even had the chance to visit the town’s Chapel.
One thing I would definitely recommend you to do would be to visit one of the Tequila Houses (weather it’s Jose Cuervo or any other) and buy a ticket to their tours. They show you all the process of how Tequila is made and it’s quite interesting. Then you can eat in any restaurant in town, we ate at “Restaurante Fonda Cholula” which served typical mexican food and there are even mariachi who play around the restaurant.
Tequila is such a nice town and is definitely the visit, as you arrive there you can see hundreds of acres of the Agave plantations and it’s definitely picture perfect! You can’t miss this hidden mexican paradise if you’re ever near!
Tequila es un lugar del cual había escuchado mucho, pero no fue hasta el fin de semana pasado que tuve por fin la oportunidad de ir. Este pueblo (obviamente) obtuvo su nombre por los cientos de hectáreas de Agave que hay alrededor que se utilizan para producir la famosa bebida mexicana del Tequila.
Nuestra visita a Tequila fue por un día, y ya que este pueblo no es muy grande fue más que suficiente el tiempo que estuvimos ahí. Lo que hicimos llegando fue comprar unos Jarritos (una bebida tradicional en un vaso hecho de barro con Tequila) y de ahí caminamos las calles entrando a las tiendas, y viendo las casas y arquitectura del pueblo; hasta fuimos a la Catedral y caminamos por sus alrededores.
Algo que sí recomendaría de Tequila si van es que visiten una de las casa Tequileras como la de José Cuervo, ahí pueden comprar un boleto para un tour en el que te enseñan como se hace el tequila y cuál es el proceso, vale mucho la pena. Puedes comer después en algún restaurante típico, nosotros comimos en el “Restaurante Fonda Cholula” que tiene comida típica mexicana y hasta hay mariachis que tocan entre las mesas.
Tequila es un pueblo muy bonito y definitivamente vale la pena visitarlo, mientras llegas puedes ver todos los agaves pasar y de verdad es una vista de postal! No se pueden perder este paraíso Jalisqueño si están cerca!
