Tasmania, a magical Aussie corner.

Tasmania is a place that I’d heard about just a few times in my life; to be honest I didn’t know much about it until I arrived to Australia and started to investigate more about this island that seemed like a magical place. We were lucky enough to be able to visit it for 5 days and I have to say they were completely breathtaking, full of nature and hikes Tasmania is a trip that will leave you speechless. So here’s my top 5 tips that I hope will make your trip worth it.

1. Rent a house or an Airbnb. We rented an Airbnb in Hobart (main city of Tasmania) between 6 friends and it was one of the best ideas of our whole trip. We were able to cook on mornings and evenings and our trip turned out to be a much more “homey” experience.
2. Go to Mount Wellington during sunrise/sunset; This was without a doubt one of our trip highlights. We visited Mount Wellington on sunset and the clouds were setting beneath us, we were rewarded with a spectacular view of the city that left us speechless.
3. Do as much hikes as you can! Our top ones were Montezuma Falls (beautiful hike with waterfalls) , Cradle Mountain (national park and lake), Mount Amos (a very challenging hike but with a rewarding view of the sea and lakes) and Freycinet National Park. There are hundreds of other hikes you can do while you’re here, and you should definitely take advantage of this since Tasmania really is famous for all of its beautiful natural settings.
4. Rent a car to move around. This is a great idea especially if you like to plan and control your own time and not be rushed by a tour or guide. We rented a van and moved from Hobart to the different hikes and locations we were headed to; there’s nothing better than a roadtrip to really admire the scenery.
5. Finally I wouldn’t leave Tasmania without visiting the MONA museum. It’s located at Hobart city and is definitely worth the visit. Inspired on modern art and architecture this museum really interacts with its visitors and makes you never wanna leave.

Tasmania is a part of Australia that is completely worth the visit, it’s very different to other states in the country because of the natural scenery and views that it offers. We were only here for 5 days but if you can come for a week I believe you’ll really be able to admire all this magical location has to offer. I loved my visit and can’t wait to go back.

Tasmania es un lugar que muy pocas veces había escuchado y si soy completamente honesta no sabía mucho acerca de este destino. Pero al llegar a Australia tuve la oportunidad de visitar esta isla (isla y estado de Australia) por 5 días y valió completamente la pena. Así que aquí les dejo las 5 cosas que recomiendo que hagan si tienen la oportunidad de visitar este lugar tan colorido y lleno de naturaleza.

1. Rentar una casa o un Airbnb. Nosotros rentamos un Airbnb en Hobart (ciudad principal de Tasmania) por 5 días, fue una buenísima idea ya que aquí cocinabamos en las mañanas y noches y pudimos disfrutar de una experiencia más acogedora y menos de “hotel”.
2. Ir a Mount Wellington en el atardecer/amanecer. Sin duda alguna este fue uno de los mejores momentos de todo nuestro viaje; visitamos el Monte Wellington en el atardecer y pudimos ver como todas las nubes bajaban a la ciudad mientras nosotros veíamos el sol bajar encima de ellas, una de las vistas más impresionantes que he visto en toda mi vida.
3. Hacer hikes y ecoturismo. Algunos de los mejores hikes que hicimos en Tasmania fueron: Montezuma Falls (cascadas impresionantes),  Cradle Mountain (parque nacional con lagos y montañas hermosas) y Mount Amos (subimos 4 horas y hasta escalamos para poder llegar a la vista más impresionante del Parque Nacional Freycinet) y todos ellos valen completamente la pena! El ecoturismo es el turismo más popular en Australia y vale la pena aprovechar esto para conocer toda la naturaleza que este país nos ofrece.
4. Rentar un coche para moverte por todos lados. Es mucho más sencillo rentar un coche o una camioneta para moverte de un lugar a otro. Tasmania es bastante grande y a pesar de que hay tours con los que puedes llegar a los destinos, el rentar un auto te da la libertad de moverte a tus tiempos y visitar lo que se te antoje conocer!
5. Finalmente, visitar el museo MONA. Está localizado en la ciudad de Hobart y es sin duda un lugar que vale la pena conocer; inspirado en arquitectura moderna y con obras muy diferentes a comparación de otros museos, es uno que se enfoca en la experiencia del espectador.

Tasmania es una parte de Australia que vale la pena conocer, es muy diferente al resto del país y los escenarios de naturaleza y las vistas que ofrecen hacen que valga 100% la pena visitarlo! Nosotros lo visitamos por 5 días pero creo que hasta una semana en este mágico lugar vale la pena para de verdad sacarle jugo a tu visita. Es un mágico lugar y si pudiera regresaría lo más pronto posible!
