Russia has always been a country that I was a little afraid to visit, from the coldness of it’s weather to the strictness of their rules; I never knew what this country would bring to me. But it’s safe to say that our visit completely changed my perspective. We were only in St Petersburg for 2 days, so we didn’t have enough time to visit everything we wanted to, but we did visit the most important and crucial places of this beautiful city.
Our two days were split in between museums, chapels, palaces, cathedrals and walking from street to street. If you’re visiting St. Petersburg I definitely would recommend going to these places:
*The Hermitage Museum – This Museum is the second largest museum in the world! You should definitely buy tickets in advance so that you don’t miss out!
*Peterhof Palace – Personally this is one of the most beautiful museums I’ve been to in my life! The gardens and fountains out back are some of the most spectacular ones you’ll ever contemplate!
*Winter Palace – Also an incredible palace, the blueish greenish color it portrays in it’s walls makes it different from any other palace you’ve seen before!
*Church of the Savior on Blood – By far, my favorite spot out of all St. Petersburg! The mosaics, the painted colors on top of the church and the amount of work brought into this Church is outstanding (to say the least!)
St. Petersburg is a city that completely surprised me! I was expecting Russia to be a cold and distant country! I was extremely pleased and surprised to learn that this country is the complete opposite! It’s weather and ambience were very warm, the places we visited were incredible; we learned so much while we were there and really enjoyed learning so much about a completely new culture! (We even went to see a local concert of Russian Dancers, it was such a different experience).
This city really reminded us to not judge a book by it’s cover, because you never know what might be inside! Hopefully we will be able to come back to St. Petersburg, or any other Russian city to be blown by its culture away again!
Rusia siempre ha sido un país al cual yo le tenía un poco de miedo (o respeto, también se podría decir), desde su clima frío hasta lo estrictos que son; nunca supe lo que este país podría enseñarme. Pero me encanta poder decir que nuestra visita cambió mi perspectiva completamente! Estuvimos en San Petersburgo solo por 2 días, así que no pudimos hacer todo lo que estaba en nuestra lista, pero sí pudimos visitar lo más importante de esta ciudad tan interesante.
Nuestros dos días estuvieron divididos entre museos, iglesias, palacios, catedrales y caminar de calle en calle conociendo lo más posible. Si tu visitas San Petersburgo definitivamente te recomiendo ir a los siguientes lugares:
*Museo Hermitage – El segundo museo más grande del mundo! Les recomiendo comprar los boletos con anticipación para no hacer fila y poder entrar (luego se acaban los boletos!)
*Palacio Peterhof – En mi opinión este es uno de los palacios más bonitos a los que he ido en toda mi vida, los jardines son impresionantes y las fuentes en la parte trasera del palacio son un espectáculo que tienes que ver!
*Palacio de Invierno – Otro palacio impresionante, es azul verdoso por fuera lo cual le da un toque completamente diferente! (Cabe aclarar que es inmenso!)
*Iglesia del Salvador sobre la Sangre Derramada – Aunque el nombre es un poco extraño esta iglesia para mí fue una de los lugares más impresionantes de todo San Petersburgo! La cantidad de mosaicos, colores y detalles que tiene esta Iglesia hace que sea toda una obra de arte!
San Petersburgo es una ciudad que nos sorprendió completamente! Yo esperaba que Rusia iba a ser un país frío y distante, pero me sorprendió muchísimo que fue completamente lo opuesto! El clima y la vibra de la ciudad fueron muy cálidos y durante nuestra visita aprendimos muchísimo; nos encantó poder conocer esta cultura tan diferente (hasta fuimos a un show de baile típico Ruso, y nos reímos muchísimo porque vimos algo completamente nuevo!)
Esta ciudad de verdad nos recordó que no puedes juzgar a un libro por su portada, porque nunca sabes lo que te puede ofrecer! Esperemos poder regresar a San Petersburgo pronto, o inclusive a Rusia para poder conocer más sobre este país tan sorprendente.
