Wine is something my father has always enjoyed, all my childhood I remember seeing him in restaurants and events trying different types of wines and enjoying them. He’d always give the glass a couple of swirls first, then smell them and finally taste them. It wasn’t until I was older that he explained this to me, “You have to see the color” he’d say. “See the color and then smell it, this way you know what to expect.” I’d copy exactly what he did, and loved his wine lessons. “All wines can taste different, weather it’s fresh, fruity, strong or a new sensation; wine has no limits.” Which is why this next destination made me so, very excited.
Napa Valley is a region North of San Francisco, where there are thousands of miles full of Wine Vineyards and Winerys! It’s a wine lovers paradise, but wine is not the only thing you can find here! The soil of this land is extremely fertile, which is why this is also a great region to grow crops, vegetables, wheats and even cheese! There are hundreds of organic products from Napa County, and each one you taste is better than the last.
We decided to do a bike tour around Napa, we contacted a company that rented us the bikes, helped us with our hotel bookings and gave us a trail to follow. The trip consisted in 5 days riding our bikes from one hotel to the next (this would take half a day or up to the afternoon); while we rode our bikes the company would take our luggage to the next hotel and we would ride between some of the most beautiful scenery we ever did see.
From long ocean drives, to forests and hundreds of vineyards this region had a little bit of everything to offer! We loved the idea of riding throughout the day and personally definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get in touch with nature and taste some very good wine and food! This trip is great to do with friends or family! Napa Valley definitely left us on the hook, with open stomachs and desire to come back.
El vino es algo que a mi papá siempre le ha gustado, desde chica me acuerdo de verlo en restaurantes y en eventos pidiendo vino y disfrutándolo mucho. Siempre le daba unas cuantas vueltas a la copa, luego la olía y al final la probaba. No fue hasta que yo era mayor que me empezó a enseñar un poco del vino; me decía “Primero ve el color”. “Ve el color y huele el vino, así puedes empezar a imaginar que esperar de él.” Yo copiaba exactamente lo que él hacía y me encantaban sus clases de catador “Todos los vinos saben diferentes, pueden ser frutales, frescos o muy fuertes, pero ninguno es igual.” Por lo que ir al siguiente lugar me dió mucha emoción.
Napa Valley es una región al Norte de San Francisco, donde hay miles de hectáreas de viñedos y de plantaciones de uva! Es el paraíso de los amantes de los vinos y hay de todo! Pero no sólo hay vino, la tierra es extremadamente fértil así que puedes encontrar desde plantíos de vegetales, legumbres y maíces hasta quesos! Hay cientos de tiendas y productos orgánicos y de verdad todos son deliciosos!
Decidimos hacer un tour en bici alrededor de Napa, contactamos a una agencia que se dedica a organizar tours como el nuestro, ellos se encargaron de rentarnos las bicis, apartar los hoteles y darnos una ruta para cada día. El viaje consistió en rodar 5 días por Napa en nuestras bicis de un hotel al siguiente (Esto casi siempre tardaba medio día o hasta la tarde); mientras rodabamos la compañía movía nuestro equipaje al siguiente hotel y nosotros disfrutamos de una vista impresionante al rodar!
Desde vistas del mar y de cuevas, hasta bosques y cientos de viñedos las vistas en Napa son impresionantes y muy diversas! Nos encantó la idea de rodar ya que es una experiencia muy diferente y puedes tener mucho contacto con la naturaleza! La comida y el vino son deliciosos y en lo personal es un viaje que puedes hacer en familia y vas a disfrutar mucho! Napa nos dejó con el apetito abierto y muchas ganas de regresar pronto!
