Queenstown has been without a doubt one of the most unique and different town I’ve had the privilege of visiting! We had the opportunity of visiting it during Autumn for a few days and it left us in complete awe. We arrived at night, between hundreds of giant mountains and orange trees we saw how the city emerged in front of our eyes, after a road full of curves and downward hills we finally arrived at Queenstown.
Queenstown is not a very big town, it has a population of around 16 thousand people and you can walk through it in less than an hour. Queenstown is known for its thousands of extreme activities that you can do while you’re here! There’s the world’s biggest bungee, swing and catapult; you can skydive, water ski, ski in the snow during winter and many other incredible activities. But what’s really magical about this town are its landscapes and spectacular views, from the center of town you can admire Lake Wakatipu and the mountains all around it, a view you’ll definitely never forget. Since we visited town during autumn all the trees and mountains were shades of orange and yellow, divine.
People in town are just too nice, everyone wants to help you out, chat with you or simply give you a smile; they really make you feel at home. During the afternoons you can enjoy seeing local artists play, sing or dance in the center of town; we bought some ice cream and sat besides them to hear their performances. There are hundreds of cafés and little restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the view, it’s a very relaxed place. Queenstown without a doubt was a magical destination for us, it made us fall in love with its views, people and activities; it’s a destination I’m sure I’ll be visiting again.
Queenstown ha sido sin duda alguna la ciudad más diferente a la que he ido en toda mi vida! Tuvimos la oportunidad de visitarla durante algunos días en otoño y nos dejó con la boca abierta. Llegamos en coche, entre cientos de montañas gigantes y árboles naranjas empezamos a ver cómo una ciudad se veía a lo lejos, lleno de curvas y bajadas por fin llegamos a la famosa ciudad de la que tanto habíamos escuchado.
En sí no es una ciudad muy grande, tiene aproximadamente 16,000 habitantes y la recorres caminando completa como en 1 hora. Queenstown es conocida por sus miles de actividades diferentes, puedes aventarte del bungee, columpio o catapulta (todos los más grandes del mundo), hay paracaídas, esquiar en agua y en nieve (en invierno), rentar motos y bicis y cientos de otras actividades. Pero lo realmente mágico está en sus paisajes, desde el centro puedes ver el lago Wakatipu con todas las montañas de fondo y es una vista que te deja con la boca abierta. Al ir en otoño nos tocó que todos los árboles estuvieran cambiando, con colores naranjas y amarillos intensos que de verdad nos enamoraron.
La gente es demasiado amable, todos quieren ayudarte y sientes que estás en tu casa lejos de tu otra casa. En las tardes hay artistas tocando la guitarra, el pino o hasta el violín en el centro de la ciudad y puedes sentarte en un parque a escucharlos. Hay cientos de cafés y helados donde puedes comer o echarte un rato a descansar. Queenstown sin duda fue un destino mágico para nosotros, nos enamoró por completo y no veo el día en el que podamos regresar.
