The wonders of the world are named Wonders because of the immense sensation of wonder they start in you; and it is without a doubt that Machu Picchu indeed filled my mind and spirit with wonder and joy.
In order to get to Machu Picchu you have two options: both start from Cusco and from there you can either walk the Inca Trail or take a Train from Ollantaytambo Station all the way to Machu Picchu. We decided to take the train, and the views and scenery were definitely not a disappointment! Everything is completely covered in green and you feel a sense of peace all around.
We went up to Machu Picchu from the station at early morning (before sunrise) and took the bus that gets you all the way to the base of the Citadel. After that you must walk/hike (not very long to be honest) and then finally before you know it, one of the most stunning landmarks ever built by humankind will appear right before your eyes.
Words are, in fact short to describe this place! Machu Picchu makes you want to stay there forever and never leave, the whole Citadel was built completely by the Incas and it’s almost a mystery as to how they managed to build it all the way up there! There’s Llamas everywhere and you can take pictures with them (but be careful because they spit!).
My #1 recommendation to anyone going to Machu Picchu would be to hike Huayna Picchu (the steep mountain that you see directly in front of you when you are in Machu). You buy tickets in advanced and you hike it all the way from early morning; from here you see all the Citadel from above (yes it’s a little tiring and steep) but the view is completely worth it! It’s as if you’re walking above the clouds (literally!).
Visiting this wonder of the world was definitely one of the best experiences ever! We were not disappointed by out visit and to be completely honest I could’ve stayed there many more days! Thank you Machu Picchu for making our trip completely worth it and for letting us know your wonder!
Las maravillas del mundo se llaman así por el sentimiento de maravilla que provocan en nosotros al conocerlas; y sin duda puedo decir que Machu Picchu llenó tanto nuestros corazones como nuestra alma de maravilla y felicidad.
Para llegar a Machu Picchu tienes dos opciones; las dos salen de Cusco, y puedes caminar el Camino Inca (son varios días de caminata intensa y cientos de km), o puedes tomar un tren de la estación de Ollantaytambo que te lleva directo a las bases de Machu Picchu. Nosotros decidimos irnos en tren y la vista que te toca es impresionante! (Sin mencionar que el tren tiene techo de cristal entonces puedes apreciar la selva y los árboles completamente!)
Subimos a Machu Picchu temprano en la mañana (antes del amanecer), tomamos un camión que te lleva de las bases de la montaña a mas o menos ¾ partes del camino. De ahí caminas (unos cuantos escalones) y después de algún tiempo tienes delante de ti a uno de los monumentos más impresionantes construido por los seres humanos en la tierra frente a tus ojos!
Es verdad lo que dice, de que las palabras faltan para describir el sentimiento que te entra al ver la vista llegando. Machu Picchu es un lugar al que llegas, y no te quiere ir nunca! Es impresionante, y en lo personal me asombra demasiado como los Incas construyeron todo esto con sus manos, y en especial hasta acá arriba! De verdad te deja sin palabras! Hay Llamas en todas partes y te puedes tomar fotos con ellas! (Pero cuidado porque escupen y fuerte!)
Mi recomendación #1 para cualquier persona que quiere visitar Machu Picchu es que vayan a la caminata de Huayna Picchu (es la montaña enorme que se ve directamente enfrente de ti si estás parado en Machu). Compras los boletos con anticipación y al día siguiente en la mañana (muy temprano) empiezas a subir la montaña! Cuando llegas hasta arriba puedes ver la Ciudadela desde arriba y sientes (literalmente) que caminas en las nubes!
Visitar esta maravilla del mundo definitivamente ha sido una de las mejores experiencias de mi vida! Nuestras expectativas definitivamente se cumplieron y en lo personal yo no me quería ir de este lugar. Gracias Machu Picchu por enseñarnos tus maravillas y hacer que nos hayamos enamorado tanto de ti.
