Our arrival to the sunny city of Jaisalmer was quite an adventure, we were supposed to arrive on a train we had booked earlier, but we got there late and lost the train, so we had to take an overnight bus all the way from Udaipur. As our bus arrived to the city center we were all very impressed by how lovely the architecture and colors were, everything is so yellow and you feel as if you’re on the desert from the moment you arrive.
Our plan was to stay only one night since we were only in town for 2 days and rent a tour that would take us to an overnight camp at the desert dunes, so we found a local tour agency and booked a tour for our group of 7 people. We were really excited because it was our first time camping overnight in sand dunes and had no idea what to expect.
Our overnight adventure was completely incredible, if you can sum it up in a nutshell; we did end up having sand everywhere in our clothes and belongings, and yes we were very cold at night (since we camped with some blankets out in the dunes, with no tent or ceiling to cover us from the cold), but it was an unforgettable experience we’ll never forget. We camped underneath an incredible sky full of stars with our friends, and personally I learned that sometimes the simplest times are the ones that mark you the most.
Our tour guides gave us all our meals, all traditional Indian cooking and to be honest very delicious! We ran around the dunes, rode camels (they are hard to get on to!) and played cards and sang and danced all night! It was without a doubt one of the most memorable nights of our trip and we really enjoyed being out in the wild with no real connection to civilization. We sometimes forget how easy it is to disconnect from the world and how good it can be for us.
When we returned to Jaisalmer we took a very well deserved bath and rode the bus for our next destination, Jaipur. Even though our visit to Jaisalmer was short we were able to admire a little bit of the city and it’s lovely lifestyle, people seemed so calm and relaxed, we really wanted to sit with them and enjoy a nice cup of tea while seeing the city life pass by. But what’s good sometimes doesn’t last and we had to appreciate that amazing night at the dessert that this city had to offer and go to our next destination. Thank you Jaisalmer for a night none of us will never forget.
Nuestra llegada a Jaisalmer no fue para nada como pensamos que iba a ser, se supone que íbamos a tomar un tren y llegar desde Udaipur, pero perdimos el tren y tuvimos que irnos en un camión de noche que hizo aproximadamente 10 horas. Mientras nuestro camión se acercaba a la ciudad me encantó ver cómo el paisaje cambiaba de ciudad caótica a un desierto lleno de edificios amarillos y con arquitectura completamente diferente.
Nuestro plan era dormir una noche en la ciudad ya que sólo estaríamos aquí por 2 días, queríamos rentar un tour que nos llevara a un campamento en el desierto de noche. Así que encontramos una agencia y rentamos un tour para 7 personas con 7 camellos para dormir en la dunas. Estábamos muy emocionados ya que nunca antes habíamos vivido una experiencia como esta y no sabíamos qué esperar.
Nuestra aventura de noche en el desierto fué increíble, si se los resumo fue muy diferente pero algo inolvidable! Acabamos con arena en todo nuestro cuerpo y pertenencias y sí, nos helamos en la noche ya que no había ni tienda de campaña ni un techo donde dormir; dormimos con cobijas viendo el cielo y sin nada más. Pero ver las estrellas tan impresionantes desde aquí y poder bailar y cantar toda la noche con nuestros amigos fue una experiencia inolvidable. A veces se nos olvida que lo más simple es lo que más te puede alegrar.
Nuestros guías nos dieron de comer y cenar, comida India y completamente deliciosa! Corrimos en las dunas, nos tomamos miles de fotos, nos subimos a los camellos (no es tan fácil como parece) y de verdad disfrutamos de estar desconectados del mundo y de la civilización! Se nos olvida lo fácil que siempre estamos conectados y lo bien que se siente desaparecer por un rato.
Cuando regresamos a Jaisalmer nos bañamos (bien merecido) y nos dirigimos al camión que nos llevaría a nuestro siguiente destino, Jaipur. A pesar de que nuestra visita fue corta Jaisalmer nos encantó, la gente y la vibra que esta ciudad tiene es algo increíble. De verdad queríamos sentarnos en una terraza y tomar un té mientras bajaba el sol, pero tristemente algunas cosas solo duran un momento y teníamos que marcharnos a nuestro próximo destino. Gracias Jaisalmer por una noche inolvidable que nunca olvidaremos.
