It’s hard to put Bagan in only a few words, we arrived to this town during the afternoon and to say that the landscape left us in awe is an understatement. While our car was taking us to the hotel we were all completely impressed by the view, hundreds of temples and pagodas of yellow and orange tones passed in front of us and offered the most spectacular view. Bagan is a place that in its majority hasn’t had a strong change from tourism (meaning that it’s landscape has remained the same and huge buildings or companies haven’t been built hre) and this is without a doubt one of the reasons it’s so beautiful. It’s been well preserved and taken care of.
One of the wonders of this destination is that the hotels and few new buildings have been adapted into the same architecture as the temples and pagodas, this is great because you really feel part of the scene the whole time. There are many activities to do while in Bagan, but mostly they involve the temples, weather it’s taking a tour to visit them, or renting a bike or motorcycle to visit them on your own.
But the real secret and charm of Bagan is the Hot Air Balloon ride! There’s only 3 companies in Bagan that fly balloons (the red one, the yellow one and the green one, literally) and it’s one of the best experiences I’ve had in my entire life! You wake up extremely early on the morning and a van goes to your hotel to pick you up, from there you are taken to the field where you recieve tea or coffee and you admire the view while the balloons are filled up with hot air and ready to fly. Just when the sun starts to rise the balloon is ready for you and before you know it you’re inside the basket, ready to fly. In a matter of seconds the balloon starts to lift and you’re up from the ground, flying above earth!
This is without a doubt one of the best experiences and moment’s I’ve lived! The flight is around 1 hour and when you’re up in the air you start to really enjoy; the impressive view of hundreds of big and little pagodas, the tiny people walking beneath you and an amazing feeling that you’re flying! There’s no windows, no roof, just you and the sky, with an incredible feeling of freedom and a silence you’ll never forget.
Bagan is a destination that I recommend 100% to anyone, the people here are extremely nice and they’re always looking for a way to help you. That flight was without a doubt one of those great moments in our lives. We also woke up one other day early and saw the balloons fly above us while we were on the ground in between the temples, it was a view completely different than from above and we enjoyed it just as much. If you ever have the opportunity of visiting this place don’t ever doubt it, because I’m sure you’ll love it just as much as we did. It’s historic, magical and you’ll remember it forever.
Es muy difícil poder describir a Bagan en pocas palabras, nosotros llegamos durante la tarde y decir que este destino nos dejó atónitos es quedarse corto. Mientras nuestro coche se acercaba al hotel no podíamos dejar de admirar los cientos de templos de colores amarillos, cafés y rojos que adornaban el paisaje, todos diferentes y de distintos tamaños. Bagan en su mayoría sigue estando bastante virgen con respecto a la industria del turismo (no ha sido invadido por edificios, empresas o camiones que le quiten su encanto rústico e histórico) y parece que los templos están muy bien restringidos y cuidados.
Una de las maravillas de este destino es que los hoteles y edificios han sido acoplados a la arquitectura de templos y pagodas que los rodean, así que te sientes parte del paisaje en todo momento. Hay muchas cosas que hacer en Bagan, pero en su mayoría todo se centra alrededor de los templos y pagodas. Puedes ir en tour a visitar muchos de ellas, o inclusive rentar una moto o bicicleta para disfrutar de los cientos de templos a tu ritmo.
Pero sin duda alguna lo mejor que puedes hacer en Bagan es el vuelo en Globo aerostático! En Bagan solo existen 3 diferentes compañías que vuelan en globo durante el amanecer (la amarilla, la verde y la roja, literalmente) y es una de las experiencias más inolvidables que yo he vivido en todas mi vida! Te despiertas en la madrugada y unas camionetas pasan por tí a tu hotel, de aquí te llevan a un lugar donde te espera un poco de té o café mientras ves como poco a poco van levantando un par de globos para que tú y tus acompañantes se suban. Justo cuando empieza a salir el sol los globos están listos y en menos de lo que piensas ya estás arriba de uno, no te das cuenta cuando empiezan a volar y estás metros sobre el suelo!
Esta es sin duda la mejor actividad y lo más recomendado en todo Bagan! El vuelo dura aproximadamente 1 hora, pasa el amanecer y empiezas a disfrutar; estás arriba de cientos de pequeñas y grandes pagodas, ves a las personas pasar debajo de tí y es increíble el sentimiento de que realmente estás volando. Sin ventanas, sin límites, solo tú y el cielo, con un silencio impresionante y una vista que jamás olvidarás.
Bagan es un destino totalmente recomendado, la gente de este país es demasiado amable, y siempre están buscando ayudarte y poder compartir contigo algo especial. Ese vuelo en globo para nosotros fue uno de los momentos más especiales de nuestra vida. También pudimos despertarnos temprano otro día y ver desde los templos a los globos volar sobre nosotros, otro espectáculo impresionante. Si tienen la oportunidad de verdad visiten este lugar, que con sus templos y su magia nos dejó completamente enamorados.
