Beijing is a city that I never knew what to expect from. I’d only seen it in movies such as Karate Kid and the 2008 Olympics, but was not quite sure what would receive me when I arrived.
To say this city is immense, is an understatement. It has a population of over 23 million people and you can cross it in over an hour and a half! It contains the biggest plaza (TIANANMEN PLAZA) in the world with 440,000 m2 and the widest and longest street with 16 lanes (8 front, 8 back) and is 55 km2 long.
What surprised me the most about Beijing was the diversity in this City! It is both extremely modern but also extremely historic and cultural! You can visit hundreds of attractions such as the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Yonghe Temple, the Weird Food Market (I ate a scorpion here😩), the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and hundreds more! Weather it’s just one day or a few I definitely recommend renting a guide, joining a tour or just doing some research because Beijing is huge and the more time you plan your visit the better your experience will be! Here’s the mail of our guide who (honestly) made our visit extremely pleasant! She listened to what we wanted to visit and suggested some new places! It was because of her that we loved her city and can’t wait to come back to this historic capital!
Beijing es una ciudad de la cual nunca supe que esperar! Solo la había visto en películas como la de Karate Kid y en las Olimpiadas del 2008, pero nunca supe cómo se vería esta ciudad ante mis ojos si un día la visitara.
Decir que esta ciudad es enorme es no darle justicia a los números! Tiene una población de más de 23 millones de personas y puedes cruzar toda la ciudad en aproximadamente una hora y media! Tiene la plaza más grande del mundo (TIANANMEN PLAZA) con 440,000 m2 y la calle más larga y ancha del mundo con 16 carriles! 8 de ida y 8 de regreso y su distancia es de 55 km2!
Lo que más me sorprendió de Beijing fue la diversidad de la ciudad! Es tanto moderna como histórica y cultural! Puedes ir a cientos de lugares para aprender de la cultura e historia como la Ciudad Prohibida, el Templo del Cielo, El Templo de los Lamas, el mercado de la comida rara (me comí un escorpión aquí😩), La Gran Muralla, el Palacio de Verano y cientos de otros lugares! Sea solo un día, o algunos más sí recomiendo tener un guía o un itinerario ya específico de qué hacer en esta ciudad! Beijing de verdad es una ciudad enorme y tener un itinerario planeado desde antes hará que puedas disfrutar mucho más de esta ciudad y así ver más cosas en menos tiempo! Nosotros tuvimos una guía maravillosa que se llamaba Cristina y gracias a ella nos enamoramos de la ciudad! Fue por ella que me encantó nuestra visita y de verdad espero poder regresar en un futuro a admirarla con más detalle.
